Zivogosce is a tourist destination situated on the Makarska Riviera, known for its natural beauty, incredible scenery and beautiful Mediterranean flora and fauna. Zivogosce includes more tourist places: Porat, Mala Duba and Blato, interconnected with several kilometers of white sandy beaches. Along the main road, there are the old parts of the village: Strnj and Murava. These two villages are connected with an old Napoleon road. The road is very attractive for walking in nature and cycling.
Zivogosce was inhabited by Illyrian and Roman times. Tombs on top of the hill Suzina and remains of a rustic villa in Mala Duba and Blato represent its historical heritage. There is also a carved Licinianus famous epigram from 474. g. comprised of 16 Latin hexameters. Epigram is located on the cliff below Franciscan Monastery. It is the most beautiful specimen of classical literature and a symbol of the source of fresh water, which still flows there.
Today, Zivogosce is a modern tourist place. It is an ideal destination for sailing and fishing. Unique natural environment makes destination ideal for families and for adventurous holidays. The natural beauties of olive groves and pine forests, which are hovering over six kilometers of interconnected beaches, clean and unpolluted sea, all situated at the foothill of a high mountain slope, makes it especially attractive for tourists.
Three campsites are situated next to the Zivogosce Blato, so the place with its surrounding area has numerous of pebble beaches and hidden coves, that you can explore by walking. There are 700 meters long walking path that leads to the beautiful beach Velika Duba, whose visually bay is known as one of the most beautiful beaches in the whole Makarska Riviera. In Zivogosce Blato you can also experience traditional cultural events that include the Fishermen's Night, performances of Dalmatian choirs and open-air concerts.
